Released Of Postal Instruments With Values Ranging 

 From ½¢ Through 25¢. And Others. All Totaled, Twelve.

Coordinated By Designers Clair Aubrey Huston And  Alvin Meissner.

The 1½¢, Portrait Used, Modeled From A Painting Known As The Virginia Colonel 

Completed At Mount Vernon In 1772 By Charles Willson Peale, 

The Original, Is now In Washington and Lee University.

The Original Of Which Is In The Metropolitan Museum Art Collection.

The Final Number (304,926,800) Were Issued For Mailing Services. 

Many Fell Into Collector's Hands From Arranged Sales, Through 

A Well Organized Program Of Promotion At Point Of Purchase. 

The Local Post Office And Banking Locations Throughout A The United States.
